October is the official National Breast Cancer Awareness month which means there are a plethora of pink-friendly events out there to show your support. Here are five events nationwide you should check out.

1. Making Strides

Hosted annually by the American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has united more than 300 communities under the same pink ribbon. Proceeds goes toward fighting the disease with research, information, services, and access to mammograms. You can make a team, raise money, and walk (or run) the 3-5 mile event, or volunteer to cheer on participants from the sidelines.  Find an event closest to you here.

2. Komen Race for a Cure/3 Day

One of the biggest events of the year, the Komen Race for a Cure is run by Susan G. Komen foundation and hosts more than 150 races globally. Join the 5K run or 4K walk, get in on the festivities, and help raise money for a good cause. Check out the Komen site to find out where and when the latest event will be. There is also a 3-day event that will bring you on a 60 mile journey with dancing, singing, and celebrating. Find out more about the 3-day ta-ta bonanza here.

3. Trek Breast Cancer Awareness Ride

Pink on wheels! On October 11th or 12th, Trek Bicycles retailers nationwide will be hosting the 9th annual Trek Breast Cancer Awareness ride. The event will feature 10 and 25-mile family friendly group rides. Proceeds go to the The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Find out where you and your buddies can take your bikes and show your support.

 

4.   Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

The Avon Walk kicks off Oct 18-19 in New York and Oct 25-26 in Charlotte, with other cities holding their events in spring next year. The walk is 39.3 miles over two days! Reebok experts have created plans and tips to help you go the distance and make the most out of your walk. Learn more about Avon and their mission here.

 

5. Party in Pink

Ditch your trainers for some dancing shoes, it’s time to rock out! For the month of October, Zumba Fitness is holding nationwide Zumbathon for charity. For 75% of ticket fees will go to the Zumba Global Research Grant for Breast Cancer Prevention which is currently researching a safe, low-cost, highly-accessible solution to prevent breast cancer. Buy some sweet looking pink gear and rock out/work out with friends for a good cause. Check out where and when your closest Zumbathon will be!
